Special Events
The Recreation Division plans and implements a number of
seasonal and festive events at various city owned parks and facilities.
►12th Annual Moonlight Madness Bicycle Ride
Created with the cycle enthusiast in mind, this annual event offers the
entire family a night of live entertainment and door prizes.
Entering it's 11th year, the ride features a 14 mile scenic police
escorted route. On site registration will be from 7:00 pm to 9:30
pm. Ride begins at 10:00 pm. Early registration is
possible by contacting Bicycle Sports at 860-5065 or downloading the
registration form at
www.bicyclesports.us.
Registration: April 5 - May 21, 2010
Cost: Early registration - $8 no T-shirt or $15 with
T-shirt
After April 23 - $12 no T-shirt or $20 with T-shirt

►Neighbors & Concerts/Movies In the Park
Snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, face painting, jump
stations, music games and prizes are just the tip of a fun-filled
iceberg that align several of Beaumont's public parks. These events are
usually held on a Saturday afternoon and provide an opportunity for the
entire family to enjoy.

►Easter Egg Hunt
A fun-filled family oriented event where our department partners with
area civic and social organizations to hide candy filled plastic eggs
for children ages 0 - 12. Music and door prizes are provided.

►Halloween Bash
Our Halloween Bash is an annual event at the Sterling Pruitt Activity
Center. Area children adorn traditional costumes and are treated with
loads of candy. Our haunted house continues to be the showpiece of this
event. Over 400 children safely enjoyed these festivities this past
year.

►Punt Pass and Kick
The NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick program creates a lively and engaging
forum for boys and girls ages 8 - 15 to compete separately against their
peers in punting, passing and kicking skills. There is no registration
fee or purchase required for any participant to enter. Birth
certificates, however, are required at the time of registration.

►Pitch Hit and Run
Aquafina and Major League Baseball team up for the annual Pitch Hit and
Run competition. The national event encourages boys and girls, ages
7-14, to participate in challenging baseball skills competition. Boys
and girls showcase the fundamental elements of baseball while pitching,
hitting and running. Winners earn the opportunity to advance to the
Major League Baseball All-Star game. The event is free but birth
certificates will be required at registration.

►Christmas Celebration
Caroling and a short program are just a few of the activities the area
youth will be afforded the opportunity to participate. Children may also
take part in various games as well as the possibly to receive gifts from
the Pruitt Center Santa. This event is generally held the week of
Christmas.
►Canned Food Drive
Hunger is a worldwide problem. Here at the S.P.A.C. we are compelled to
help however we can. Our continual food drive provides a vehicle to
combat this epidemic. Recipients are: Southeast Texas Food Bank, Some
Other Place and local church pantries.

►22nd Annual Regional Track Meet
Every year the Beaumont Track Club participates and hosts the Annual
Hershey Regional Track Meet. This event is held at the Westbrook High
School Track in Beaumont, Texas. Runners who are successful in this
competition may qualify to compete in the State and/or National
Championships held in various cities throughout the United States.

►5K Jingle Bell Run/Walk
The City of Beaumont along with the YMCA and other sponsors invite their
citizens and members to get involved and participate in the annual “5K
Jingle Bell Run/Walk”. This event caters to everyone, no matter what age
or fitness level.
If a race is not for you, just bring your kids, strollers ect… and walk
along the marked path. This year, the Jingle Bell Run/Walk will take
place on Crockett Street in the Historical Downtown Beaumont.
